8 months

I can't believe my baby has finished his 8th month of life. Time is going by too fast! Please slow down! This month Ike didn't have any new milestones but he really perfected some old ones.

One of the biggest changes I've noticed is how quickly Isaac picks up on things. For example, I've just started putting shoes on him this week. Yesterday when I was changing his diaper, I gave him a shoe to keep him occupied. He immediately held up his foot and tried to put the shoe on. And then last night I was counting his fingers. When I stopped, he took his right index finger and was trying to count the fingers on his left hand. Amazing!

Another development that really melts my heart is how he's started sharing. He'll be playing with something and he'll give it to me to see. Or if he's eating something, he'll give me a bite. Yesterday we were at a friend's house and Ike brought his teether toothbrush. The little girl picked it up and was banging it around. Ike took it from her and I thought he was going to get upset about her playing with it, but instead he put it in his mouth and then reached out to put it in her mouth like he was showing her how to use it. He is such a sweet, kindhearted little boy already! I love him to pieces!
With 5 new teeth in, his mouth feels really different I'm sure. He runs his tongue over his teeth all the time so it looks like he's sticking out his tongue. Thankfully this lasted only a little bit since I didn't always want him with his tongue hanging out.
As usual, we Skype with Grammy & PawPaw on the weekends. Grammy came out for a visit for a week or so and Isaac enjoyed her company. Grammy & PawPaw will both be here in May for a visit.

With the weather getting nicer, we've spent more time outdoors. Isaac loves swinging on the swing at Mimi & Grampy's house.

Isaac has gotten to the stage where he only wants to eat what he can feed himself. And sometimes feeding himself means he mushes up his food and gets it all over everything. But that's ok because he has so much fun and gets a good bit in his mouth too.

Ike will wave hello and goodbye, just never when you want him to do it.

A new thing Isaac started doing this month is opening doors. He'll open the door to wherever he wants to go and just crawl on through. He even stands up and reaches for the handle. He's such a smart little guy!

Speaking of standing up, he has stood by himself several times now and tried to take a step this past week. He loves standing and seeing things from a different view.

Another thing Ike loves is playing with his dad. Daddy lets Ike wrestle with him and do all sorts of crazy things. This upsets Mommy because it is usually right before bed when we're supposed to be winding down, not getting all revved up.

Isaac really loves the outdoors. If he's ever upset, taking him outside is an almost guaranteed way to calm him down. Though I do have to say, he very rarely gets upset. He is such a happy, content child. We are so blessed!

7 months

I can't believe my boy is over 7 months old. His 7th month brough a few new skills and mastering some old skills. Isaac is a pro at pulling up now. And getting into and destroying things.

He is starting to look like a big boy now. With every passing day, his baby looks disappear.

Isaac can crawl at ultimate speed. Nothing makes me happier than when I walk in the door from work and Isaac speed crawls right to me.

Ike has also been busy chewing on his crib. This month we had to lower the mattress in the crib because he was about to topple over the rail.

He continues to love being read to. He will sit for as long as you will let him when you're reading to him. It is the only time he will sit still.

Isaac also mastered feeding himself. He also learned how to open the top to the puffs container.

Surprisingly we had a second big snow storm. Isaac was not as thrilled with snow again.

But he did enjoy having mommy home for an extra two days.

One of our favorite developments this month was that Ike has started taking baths by himself. Previously, one of us (usually Richie) would sit in the tub with him because we were worried it was too slippery. On a whim we threw him in there alone one day and we haven't looked back.

He loves bathtime! (& shower time!)

So much happened this month that it wore our baby out! At 7 months, Isaac weighs 23lb 3oz (97th percentile) and is 28 in tall.
